"I give myself very good advice,
But I very seldom follow it,
That explains the trouble that I'm always in,
Be patient, is very good advice,
But the waiting makes me curious,
And I'd love the change,
Should something strange begin,
Well I went along my merry way,
And I never stopped to reason,
I should have know there'd be a price to pay,
Someday...someday,
I give myself very good advice,
But I very seldom follow it,
Will I ever learn to do the things I should?
Will I ever learn to do the things I should?"
-Alice in Wonderland

And, it's funny....I just had to write a paper on the current ethical relevancy of The Wizard of Oz....and strangely as I think about it, Alice in Wonderland and The Wizard of Oz are strangly similar....if nothing else there is a definite comparison between Alice and Dorothy.
ReplyDeleteAND....for that matter, the comparison between myself and the two characters...interesting food for thought.
ReplyDeleteI love this excerpt. I think the same could be said for most people. The whole, "do as I say not as I do" mind set we all have.
